Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days, for some reason my blog wasn’t working on my end. Apparently people could still view it, but I couldn’t even access it myself. Well, all is well and good now, and I even managed to work out a couple kinks I found on my site. Hopefully things will be smooth from now on. Anyways, I suppose I’ll go over whats been going on on my end lately, after the break.
The rain has started back up again over here in So Cal, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. For me, anyways. I’ve been asked to do a portrait session for this family at Bonelli Park in San Dimas, but every time we try to schedule, we get rained out. Today will have been the 3rd time we’ve had to reschedule due to rain. I feel bad, but there’s nothing we can really do about it. If worse comes to worse, I’ll ask them if they’d like to do it in my studio (aka my garage), but that’s a last resort thing. It’d be kind of weird having a random family come to my home and have the neighborhood watch as I do their portraits. I’m sure it’d be a bit unsettling for them as well. I hope we can work out something soon.
Also, my Alien Bees came in! Hmmm, that’ll probably take some explaining. Alien Bees is a company that manufactures studio lights for photographers. Why the weird name? I have no idea, but the lights are extremely popular with many studio photographers, and I have to say, I’m enjoying them myself. Heck, I even shot a self portrait while testing them out. Click on the photo to enlarge, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. My face has been known to scare little children at times. I don’t think I look too bad, do you? Anyways, I’ll definitely be using these for plenty of portraits and headshots in the future, and it gives me a huge boost in the lighting department, something I’ve been lacking in my photos lately.
Also, I’ve been tapped to do a portrait session with a mexican recording artist, Luz Rios. She actually did a music video at a friends house (watch the video Heidi, you’ll get a good laugh out of it), and I guess my friend showed off some of the work I’ve done with her. Apparently Luz liked it a lot, and I’ll be doing a session with her within the next week or so. Pretty cool. She seems really good, I just wish I could understand spanish better so I knew what she was saying.
Oh yeah, how was everyone’s Valentine’s Day? Awesome I hope? Mine was fairly uneventful for the most part, but I did end up having a date that night! Yep! No, it wasn’t anything that will lead to anything (if that’s what you’re thinking), but it was just a nice fun date with a friend. I’ll spill the beans in another entry, its a pretty good story.
I love the rain, I just want to be able to take pictures though.
