These two girls are hilarious. Hannah and Grace are two models in the making. Ha.
So hopefully you watched the video I posted up last night. And you wanna know what my reaction was when I watched it? I cried. I didn’t mean to, I really didn’t. In fact, not once, but twice while watching the 7 minute clip. The first time was when the camera cut to the female judge, and her reaction. You could see that glimmer of a tear in her eye, and the fact that she was so moved, moved me. Then there was Susan’s reaction at the end. The whole outpouring of shock and joy from her pushed me over the edge again.
In a conversation at Denny’s the other day, my cousin Jason admitted to me that its always the scenes of unity that make him cry. I had wondered what it is in movies that make me cry afterwards, and I finally realized what it was after watching that Youtube clip. It’s the inspirational underdog that gets me everytime. No, I’m not ashamed to admit that movies make me cry. But that underdog! Gah!
I think I have an emotional connection with the underdog, because I think as a child I was always viewed as one by my peers. Always being the shortest in the class tends to have an effect on you, ya know? But man, whenever Rudy makes that sack, or Andy Dufresne finally breaks out of prison, or heck, whenever Tracy finally spoils the contest, integrates the show, and gets Link Larkin, I well up with tears.
And no, this has nothing to do with my manliness whatsoever. Yes, I did make a reference to Hairspray, but The Shawshank Redemption and Rudy overrule that.
In fact, in order to reaffirm my manliness, here’s a photo I took of my encounter with the demon cow from Hell:
